The Sean Bell case has gripped NYC as yet another example of the double standard of justice for the African American male. In a scene similar to the now infamous Amadou Diallo case:
Three New York City police officers were found innocent of all charges on Friday in the shooting death of an unarmed black man killed in a hail of 50 bullets on his wedding day.
A New York State Supreme Court judge cleared two officers of manslaughter and other charges and a third of reckless endangerment in the death of Sean Bell, 23, who was shot, along with two friends, after a bachelor party at a strip club in November 2006. The case has generated outrage in New York's black community.
Anyway the verdict would have come today- both sides would have felt a grave injustice was served upon them. I am especially saddened because it's another reminder of the fact that black men are still probable targets.
