After watching that interview with Ms. Wallace, & listening to excerpts of aMs. Wallace's radio interview with Angie Martinez- I got to thinking & reminicing...
It's ALWAYS been obvious that Lil Kim has some serious self esteem issues. She's revealed through numberous interviews that she came from a broken home and was abandoned by her father. I think Kim saw Big as a replacement father figure & as a savior who rescued her from homelessness & abusive, dangerous relationships with bed-stuy's drug dealers. Kim has made no bones about most of her past as a 'black girl lost'.
Coming up in that era around B.I.G & Puff, one thing was evident. Kim did not fit their mold. Puffy crafted every woman in his camp to be platinum blonde & the lighter the better models of beauty. It was clear then, that there was a 'type'.
Is anyone really surprised by that? Given these issues still run rampant in most music videos we see today? It's probably contributed greatly to the tremendous amounts of plastic surgery that Kim has had. Trying to compete in an arena, she just didn't belong in.
It's funny that Kim is mad at everyone but herself. (And B.I.G.-for that matter).
