Named Choke No Joke, that ran with the Roc, is talking about the "REAL" reason the Dynasty fell apart. It seems things started going sour after Dame picked up Jay's "sloppy seconds". No disrespect to Aaliyah, but many in the industry circles remember when Aaliyah & Jay-Z were an item. As this picture clearly illustrates circa '99. It seems that somewhere in the shuffle, Dame & Aaliyah became a couple.
Choke tells Hip Hop Weekly,
"Both Jay and Dame was involved with a certain R&B singer, who I'm not gonna say her name out of respect 'cause she ain't around to defend herself, but I believe that was a part of the initial friction. I was seeing Jay with her back around 2000, then Dame was with her after. All you have to do is look at the movie they did, Death of a Dynasty. In the movie they were fighting over a model. In real life she was a model, but singing is what she was known for first"
Even back then, most people guessed it was Dame's attempt at drumming up publicity for himself by attaching himself to the young star who was slowly becoming a young Hollywood starlet. Roc insiders say there was always a rivalry between the two business partners. There were also whispers that Aaliyah's real friends were pissed off at Dame's "widowed boyfriend act" and thought he was trying to capitalize after her untimely death. Any hoo, now this dude who is desperately trying to promote his book is airing the dirty laundry.
